Dr. Amjad Hussain

Assistant Professor

Ph.D.



Dr. Amjad Hussain belongs to the northern areas of Pakistan. He secured his Ph.D. Degree on December 4th, 2014 from the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, International Center for Chemical & Biological Sciences University of Karachi under the supervision of Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary and worked for seven years in the Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman's research laboratory (Ex. Chairman Higher Edu. Commission, Pk). After completion of his Ph.D., Dr. Hussain was hired as Postdoctoral Research Associate on NIH Federal Grant by the University of California, San Diego USA for one year on the project of the Sub-Marine Natural Products . After the successful completion of this project he got yet another Postdoctoral Position in the field of Marine Natural Products on April 1st, 2016. Mean while, he was hired as Postdoctoral Research Associate by MNHN, University of Paris V, Paris, France on European Grant. After the completion of this project, Dr Hussain joined Government College University Faisalabad on March 6th, 2017 as Assistant Professor (IPFP) followed by few years contractual positions and served there till September 1st, 2019. During this time, he got the opportunity to teach at the M.Phil, Master and the Under graduate levels and supervised a number of M.Phil, Mater and Under graduate students in their final year research projects. Meanwhile he served on a number of academic positions as additional charges. Dr. Hussain has joined University of Okara on October 16th, 2019 as Assistant Professor (BPS-19/TTS) in the Department of Chemistry. Currently, he is In charge of the Chemistry department for the Undergraduate Program and is working on few projects of Marine Chemistry and some other projects of the local medicinal plants for the evaluation of their efficacy against various types of cancer disorders. Apart from this research work his responsibilities also include teaching at the M.Phil, Master & Under graduate levels. he is also involved in supervising a number of M.Phil scholars. He has the additional duties of Focal Person for the Departmental Sports & Ethical Committees. He has a number of research and, review articles, book chapter published in the highly reputed International journals and also serving as a regular reviewer for few International journals.
